Our cattle are fed on grass, rich in clover which is produced without
the use of
chemicals i.e. synthetic fertilisers. The soil becomes richer and
richer as the cycles progress thus ensuring lush feeding year after
year. Animal welfare is our number one priority and the cattle
are only housed “inside” during the very harsh winter
months. During this time they are fed Organic hay or silage along
with Organic cereals and “left over” Organic vegetables.
We rear traditional Scottish Breeds dominated by ABERDEEN ANGUS
(Certified Organic). It has always been our opinion (and of our
customers) that the ABERDEEN ANGUS is by far the “King of
the Beef World”. The Organic Beef is hung for a minimum of
fourteen days to ensure that you receive only the most succulent
and tastiest of cuts.
Feeding is home grown on our own organic land and includes barley,
wheat and beans. The growing and developing piglets have an enormous
amount of space to run and root at will, clover is
their favourite. We operate an open house policy where you can
see for yourself the high standards of welfare, and where we believe
that a happy pig is a tasty pig!
Wild venison from high up in the rugged

Lamb & Mutton
Also reared here at Jamesfield, our Organic Lamb & Mutton are
truly a delight,
especially to the gourmets amongst us. To be truthful, it really
is not difficult to distinguish the taste between our Organic Lamb & Mutton
and that of conventional lamb. There really is no comparison. Once
tasted, it is never forgotten.
Suffolk, Cheviot, Grey Face and occasional Black Face lambs are
grazed on Organic
grass and are used to “tidy up” the fields as they
also feed on the stubble of harvested Organic vegetables and Organic
cereals. Again the animal husbandry is of the highest possible
standards which of course is part of the strict certification process.
They also sell organic poultry from another supplier but there
is no indication of the diet they are fed.
