Kombucha Culture
Traditionally kombucha is shared among friends not sold. Several communities will send you a culture with a small fee to cover the postage costs
or for free if you can collect in person. Other suppliers will sell you a kit including tea, culture and brewing equipment. You can find commercially
brewed kombucha in some health shops and supermarkets.

Commercially Brewed in the UK
You need to be careful when buying commercially brewed kombucha. Some brands are very sweet and are pasteurised too and are simply not worth buying.

Our favourite brand is Arthur Wilson's Organic Kombuchai.
It's made in Liverpool by Kombucha Health Ltd, from organic Japanese
Sencha green tea and organic sugar. It has a lovely light dry taste
and it isn't too sweet. It's Unpasteurised too. They don't have a
web site but you can get it in most health food stores around the country. If
they don't stock it ask them to get some in.
It is also available mail order at £38.50 for 6 x 1 litre bottles (including postage & packing, and insurance) from Kombucha Health
Ltd.in Liverpool. Phone 0151 709 0008.

Hi Potency Kombucha Elixirs are commercially brewed herbal kombucha
teas and extracts from Wales. Lewtress Health Care Products make
a range of kombucha teas including elderflower, rose hip and Echinacea,
all of which are live unpasteurised kombuchas.
These kombuchas come
in large 1 litre bottles. The elderflower and rosehip are especially
nice and came top when we conducted a kombucha tasting. The chung
mee kombucha came in a close third, it has a wonderful honey flavour.
These cha's are sweeter than Arthur Wilson's Organic Kombuchai (which
came in joint first place with the Lewtress elderflower in our tasting).
They also make concentrates, herbal extracts enhanced with Bio Active Kombucha culture extract, and hair products too.
